Our Vision Statement

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ.
It is the power
of God at work,
saving everyone
who believes—
Jews first and also Gentiles.

Romans 1:16

Welcome to Chestnut Street Online...

Life isn’t getting any easier. Every day you face decisions that could change the course of your life. Every moment media bombards you with thousands of messages - what’s truth and what’s hype? Every one of us carries burdens of pain, guilt, and shame from which we long to be forgiven, healed, and freed.

What we don’t need are prepackaged answers or bumper sticker maxims. We need truth–real truth. Truth that doesn’t just scratch the surface of our problem but cuts to the very heart of our need. Truth that exposes us for who we really are and then makes us what we were always meant to be. Truth that illuminates the darkest recesses of our soul, melts our darkness, and forgives our sin. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

What we all need is Jesus Christ. Jesus is Truth – truth that does not merely inform but transforms. Truth that does not condemn us in our sin but saves us from it. Truth that declared us both indelibly guilty and unconditionally forgiven at the Cross of Christ. Truth that does not offer propositional answers to all of life’s questions but Jesus’ presence for the journey.

We hope you will consider sharing your life’s journey together with us here at Chestnut Street Baptist Church. We have something for all stages of the journey from birth through retirement. Our ministries include: Sunday school for all ages, Student Ministries, Men’s Group, Women’s Bible Studies, Choir, Worship Team, Home Groups, and more. There is even van service available to pick up those with infirmities or who just need transportation on Sunday morning.

Our Sunday Morning Services are relevant, inspiring, and uncompromisingly anchored in the Truth of God’s Word. Our worship is “Ancient/Future” – blending together the best of all generations, current and long past. Our passion is to “Know Jesus and to Make Him Known” for we unwaveringly believe He is who He claimed to be: the only way that we might be forgiven, reconciled, and experience a new and real life with God the Father.

I’d love to answer any questions that you might have about the church or our ministries. Please or call the church office at (207) 236-2195.

by His Grace,
Adam Kohlstrom
